Obituary of Ruth A. Prell

Ruth DeFrees Olcott Prell, 90, of Marcellus, and formerly of Amber, passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at home, surrounded by her family. Born in Kansas, Ruth moved to Amber in 1948. She was a homemaker and a seamstress. Ruth worked many years for the Marietta US Post Office, retiring in 1988. She was a long time member of the Amber Congregational Church and the Women's Fellowship. Ruth was passionate with all her crafts. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Frank, parents Eitson and Edna DeFrees, grandson Nickolas Carus Olcott, sister Lois Koenig and brothers Walter and Warren. Surviving are her children Barbara (Bob) Weaver of East Syracuse and Carus Olcott of Auburn; five grandchildren Kristin (Frank) Yeager, Erika Vitthuhn, Dawn (Ziad) Hussein, Jessie Plantz and Jonathan (Annabelle) Olcott; nine great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Norma Olcott. A Celebration of Life will be 11:00am on Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Amber Congregational Church. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Amber Congregational Church Women's Fellowship, 2366 Otisco Valley Road, Marietta, NY 13110.
