Obituary of Catherine D'Angelo
Catherine D'Angelo, 92, loving wife and caring mother, of Marcellus, NY passed away peacefully at St. Luke in Oswego, NY on Friday May 27, 2016 after a short illness. Catherine was born in Rochester, NY to Frank and Agnes (Stopyro) Mocyk on September 20, 1923. She was a graduate of Marcellus High School and worked for the Martisco Bean Factory, Camillus Cutlery, and General Electric. Later in life she went back to work at the Marcellus Presbyterian Child Care Center. Her greatest job was as a stay at home mother where she raised eight children. She was a member of several community and civic organizations throughout her life including the Alter Rosary Society, Marcellus Garden Club, Marcellus Historical Society, Stamp Club and the Friends of Sterling Nature Center. Catherine was also a long time participant in the Wednesday Marcellus Lanes bowling league the Glamour Gals. In addition, she enjoyed a variety of arts & crafts including sewing, knitting, crocheting and stamping.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband Adolph D'Angelo, sister Bernice Wheatly, and brother Joseph Mocyk. She is survived by her eight children: Jacqueline Lanni of Manchester, NH; Adolph (Susan) D'Angelo of Holden, MA; Joseph D'Angelo of Sterling, VA; Daniel (Binia) D'Angelo of Clifton Park, NY; Frank (Terri) D'Angelo of Clayton, NC; Dominick (Heidi) D'Angelo of Clarence Center, NY; David (Katheryn) D'Angelo of Oswego, NY; and James (Amy) D'Angelo of Sterling, NY. She is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Calling hours will be held at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus on Tuesday May 31, 2016 from 4PM to 7PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Francis Xavier Church, 1 W. Main Street, Marcellus on Wednesday June 1 at 9AM with the Rev. Daniel C. Muscalino officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
