Obituary of Fred Burt

Fred Burt, 89, of South Onondaga passed away unexpectedly, Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at home. He was co-owner of Tanner Valley Golf Course for many years. Fred was past chief of the South Onondaga Fire Department from 1959 to 1961. Besides enjoying golf and warm winters in Sarasota, Florida, he enjoyed spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Fred leaves his family with memories they will cherish forever. Fred was predeceased in 2014 by Ev, his wife of 66 years. Surviving are his children Michael F. (Barbara) Burt of Marcellus, Connie (Skip) DuRocher of Tully, Anita (Jim) Hanrahan of Syracuse and Jim Burt of Camillus; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and his brother Rich Burt of South Onondaga. Calling hours will be 2 to 5pm Sunday, February 14, at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. Funeral service will be 10am Monday also at the funeral home. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to South Onondaga Fire Department, 3130 Cedarvale Road, Nedrow, NY 13120.
