Dorothy P. Semple
Dorothy P. Semple, 93, of Auburn and formerly of Marcellus died April 22, 2014. Born in Spafford, Dorothy lived in Mandana before moving to Marcellus in 1943 and then to Auburn in 1979. She was a 1937 graduate of Skaneateles High School and a 1938 graduate of Auburn Business School. Dorothy worked 26 years as bookkeeper for L.D. Paul Lumber Co., in Marcellus, retiring from there in 1975. She then worked 9 years as unit secretary of the operating room at Community General Hospital, retiring in 1984. Dorothy wintered 15 years in Bonita Springs, Florida. Her husband Howard G. Semple died in 1975.
Surviving are her two daughters Beverly (Burton) Hoskins of Florida and Deborah Semple of NYC; grandchildren Colleen (John) Rutkowski of Florida, Erin Fitzgerald of Auburn and Bret (Sarah) Hoskins of Georgia; step-grandchildren Edward Hoskins of Florida and Sandra Blalock of Macedon; great-granddaughter Jordan; step-great-grandchildren Alec, Joshua, Samantha and Amanda; two nephews Joseph (Candy) Pendergast of Auburn and Richard (Jeanne) Albring of California.
A Celebration of Life will be at a later date this summer. Burial will be private.
The family acknowledges the loving care provided by the staff at Finger Lakes Center for Living.
