Obituary of CPT Patrick J. Cassidy
Captain Patrick John Cassidy, age 36, of Syracuse, died Wednesday, October 4th with his wife and children by his side. Patrick passed away at home after a nine-month battle with lung cancer. Patrick is an adored father, beloved husband, cherished son, loyal friend, dependable teammate, and esteemed colleague to many.
Patrick lived in Syracuse with his wife Ariane; sons Ronin and Lorcan, and beloved pets. He was a 2005 graduate of Westhill Schools and was a current member of the Westhill School Board. Patrick graduated from Le Moyne College in 2010, where he studied History, Education, and played rugby.
After graduation Patrick enjoyed playing rugby for the Syracuse Chargers, a team he played with for many years. Patrick dedicated himself to serving others and highlighted this desire to serve with his time in the New York Army National Guard. He received many medals and ribbons during his time in the Guard due to his incredible talent. Most recently, Patrick served as the Commander of Headquarters and Headquarters Troop, 2-101 CAV. When he wasn't Captain Cassidy, he worked as a Warehouse Manager for Freight Management Group, a shipping and logistics company.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Ariane; his sons Ronin and Lorcan; parents Charles and Peggy; brother Charles (Elisa), two sisters Carleen Dewey and Erin Cassidy; Jason and Marriana Stenta; nephews Charlie, Colton, Tristano, Cruz, and Mateo; nieces Cassidy, Briella and Isabel; loving in-laws; an amazing group of friends and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Patrick leaves behind an incredible legacy, shoes no one else will ever be able to fill, an immense amount of outdoor gear, and a passion in his wife, sons, friends, and family, to make him proud.
Calling hours for Patrick will be this Thursday, October 12th from 4 to 7pm in St. Charles Church, 501 S. Orchard Road, Syracuse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Friday, the next morning, followed by full Military Funeral Honors, both held in St. Charles Church. Burial will be private.
