Philip A. Natoli Obituary

Philip A. Natoli Obituary

Philip A. Natoli, 84, of Marcellus, NY, passed away peacefully May 30th, 2023 at home. Born and raised in Cortland, Phil graduated from Cortland High School in 1956. He worked at the family grocery store, A.Natoli & Son, until 1961.

Music being his passion, Phil followed his dreams and enrolled in the music program at Ithaca College. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education in 1965 and was a member of Phi Mu Alpha. Phil was then hired by the Marcellus Central School District where he taught instrumental music. During his 35 years at Marcellus, the music program received numerous awards, but his greatest contribution was the influence he had on his students' lives.

In the 1970s, Phil continued his love for music by starting Music Festivals International Inc., which brought music programs to many countries abroad. Starting in 1967, he spent 44 years working at the New York State Fair, first running the band competition and later as Director of the Talent Showcase.

Phil was predeceased by his wife Marilyn after 60 years of marriage, his son Mark in 2013, and infant daughter Mildred in 1961. He is survived by son Matthew (Teresa); three grandchildren Rachel, Julia and Morgan; sister Maria; sister-in-law Connie and daughter-in-law Susan, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phil dedicated his life to the support and well-being of others, and because of his influence, he is survived by those who wish to do the same. The family would also like to thank all of his care providers.
