Obituary of Elizabeth "Liz" Hood

Elizabeth "Liz" Hood, 72, of Marcellus, NY died suddenly on June 7, 2023. Liz was born in Lake Forest, IL to Myrv and Joan (Nelson) DeLapp. She grew up in Swarthmore, PA where she met the love of her life and future husband Jim. They eventually moved to the Town of Marcellus where they raised their family. Lizzy's core group of friends developed while working with the Friday night crew at Donovan's Marietta House restaurant. She eventually received a paralegal degree and spent many years in the law profession. Liz helped many, many people in and around Marcellus. She loved her job and the people she worked with on a daily basis. As an avid reader, Liz would often relax with one of her many books listening to the songbirds at her country home. She loved to have a drink and many laughs while spending time with family and friends on Otisco Lake; especially if her friends Debbie and Jan were along for the fun! She also loved vacationing with Jim in Martha's Vineyard, Albuquerque, NM, and her Adirondack treasure, Long Lake. Liz leaves behind her husband Jim of 55 years; her sons Gabe (Terry) and Matt (Stacey); three grandchildren Ben, Dylan and Hannah; two brothers Ted (Margie) and Jimbo (Robin), also by many wonderful brothers/sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Tom. Liz will be missed dearly by her family and the Marcellus community. She had a warm heart and a wonderful sense of humor. Services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be at a later date in the summer.
