Obituary of Lawrence E. Marocco

Lawrence E. Marocco of Marcellus, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 14, 2023. Born on December 4, 1945 in Schenectady, NY to Anthony S. and Anna E. Marocco. The only son with 5 sisters graduated from Draper High School, then earned his B.S. in Engineering from Syracuse University. He was employed by Carrier from 1968-1975 then went on to work as a Senior Quality Control Engineer at Welch Allyn from 1975-2010. Larry was an active member of Marcellus First Presbyterian Church serving as an usher, Elder, Deacon and member of various committees.

After retiring, Larry volunteered in his daughter Michelle's kindergarten classroom and chaperoned several field trips with her classes. He then proudly volunteered at Upstate Community Hospital for 12 years and gave 11,100 hours of service to helping others there. When he wasn't visiting friends at Blue Water Grill, Doug's or Daniels Grill, he was reading library books or doing puzzles.

Larry is survived by the mother of his children Diana Marocco (Rogers), his 4 children: Andrew Marocco (Krissi), Michelle Wranesh (Todd), Debby Elizalde (Walt), Alan Marocco (Tatiana), his 4 grandchilden: McKenna, Mattingly, Michael, Adelina, his 5 sisters: Carol Madison (Bob), Joan Guthier (Jerry), Marlene Ventresca (Steve), Mary Iamurri (Robert), Nancy Flomerfelt (Jon), manycousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Saturday, January 21, 2023 from 1-3 pm with a service and dessert reception to follow, all held at Marcellus First Presbyterian Church.

We'd like to thank the E.R., 6th floor & 3N-ICU nurses and staff at Upstate Community Hospital for their kindness, compassion and care during his time there.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to MFPC or Marcellus Free Library.
