Obituary of Patricia J. Chapman

Patricia Joan (Loomis) Chapman, age 76, of Syracuse, was raised a free range child in Rose Hill, NY learning the skills and a love of the outdoors. Her family moved to Marcellus where she graduated from MCS in 1963. Those school friendships lasted until her death. Pat worked as a receptionist and secretary assistant for several not-for-profits, and retired from Family Practice in Liverpool to take care of her husband. She and Gene owned and operated the Cedarvale Inn until 1994. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards in several leagues and dancing whenever they could. Pat showed Tennessee Walking Horses in New York and Pennsylvania for over 50 years, and also raised Pomeranians. She was an artist, storyteller and a friend to all. Pat was predeceased by her parents Virgil G. Loomis and Dorothy Case; husband Eugene Chapman; sisters Jacqueline Case and Sharon Corr; brother Sandy Loomis; special friends Julie McCleery and Mary Jane Licardo. Surviving are daughters Lisa (Joe) Sawtell and Danielle Gillmore; granddaughters Jamie (Israel) Lopez, Ashley (Tyler) Williams and Kylee Gillmore; great-granddaughter Cataleya Lopez; sister Mary Jane Walker; brother Neil Loomis; former husband Gerald (Trinh) Welch; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, horse friends and school friends. Calling hours will be from 4 to 6pm Thursday, August 25th at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. Service and burial will be private. Contributions may be made to ASPCA or Humane Association of CNY.
