James "Jim" Robert Joyce Jr., of LaFayette, passed away at Upstate University Hospital on April 13, 2022 at the age of 73. Jim grew up in Nedrow, and after graduating high school he joined the United States Navy in 1967. Jim moved to LaFayette in 1978 where he built a home for his family while working at Detroit Diesel. He spent his weekends boating and fishing with his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.

Jim was predeceased by his father James R. Joyce Sr. in 1978, mother Anne O'Callaghan Joyce in 2009 and brother John in 2020. Surviving are his siblings Robert (Judy), Nancy (John) Hourigan, Mary (Clarence) Shadduck and Kevin. He is also survived by his three daughters Damara (Colin) Craver, Whitney (Lonnie) Peeples and Mackenzie (Eric) Kirby, Carol "Kay" Elmer, along with five grandchildren Harper 12, Avery 10, Conor 9, Charles 4 and Nora 2, who he cherished spending time with.
