Obituary of Kay Reid Wilson

Kay Reid Wilson, 93, of Marcellus passed away peacefully May 6, 2021 at Loretto Health & Rehabilitation in Syracuse, with her son David by her side. She was born in New York City to the late Edward L. and Catherine B. Reid. Kay received her RN designation from Mary Immaculate Hospital Long Island. Her CRNA designation (Certified Registered Nurses Anesthetist) received from Washington University Barnes Hospital School of Anesthetists Saint Louis. Her professional career of 16 years included, 2 years with VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia; 8 years with United States Army Nurse Corp attaining the rank of Captain (Korean Conflict) and 6 years with Syracuse General Hospital. Kay was involved in the American Nurse Association and the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Association. Her community involvement included St. Francis Xavier Church Altar Rosary Society and Church Choir, Marcellus Study Club, Marcellus Garden Club, Marcellus Home Bureau, Marcellus Historical Society and was a life member of the American Legion Ralph Share Post 297. Kay was predeceased by her husband Robert of 63 years and is survived by her son David (Patti), grandchildren Reid and Sabrina; sisters-in-law Dolores Maroney and Sister Mary Brendan Wilson RSM; niece Maureen Maroney; great-niece Kaitlin, and several cousins. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9am on Tuesday, May 11th in St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. Interment will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Kay has directed an anatomical gift to SUNY Upstate Medical University for advancement of medical education and research.
