Obituary of Edward W. Peenstra

Edward W. Peenstra, 73, of Marietta, passed away on July 10, 2020 surrounded by his family. Ed was born on August 8, 1946 and was a lifelong resident of Marcellus. He graduated from Marcellus High School, Class of 1965, where he played basketball and football. "Big Ed" worked and retired from the Onondaga County Highway Department out of the Camillus Barn. Ed had a unique love for all animals, always having a cat or dog for a pet. He enjoyed being on the water on his pontoon boat and had a love for Otisco Lake, where he built their family home. He loved antique snowmobiles, crossword puzzles, watching NASCAR and Duke Basketball. Ed could be found in the stands, watching his grandson Jack's, football, basketball and baseball games. After retiring, Ed and Linda spent many summers at their camp on the river, making many friends and memories along the way. He is survived by his wife Linda of 52 years, his daughter Jennifer (husband Walt Zinn), son Stuart (wife Kristin) and was the proud grandfather of his grandson Jack Peenstra. He is also survived by his two sisters Betty Gutchess and Barbara Kuss and several nieces and nephews. No services will be held at this time. Donations can be made to the Borodino Fire Department or to your local animal shelter in honor of Ed's love of animals.
