Obituary of Wilbur G. Hoyt

Wilbur G. Hoyt, 86, of Marcellus passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019. Will was an Army Veteran. He worked 30 years for Marcellus Central Schools as a math teacher, retiring in 1987 and then 10 more years teaching math at OCC.

Will enjoyed sewing and had donated hundreds of baby quilts, that he designed, to March of Dimes. He enjoyed creating with stained glass, painting and gardening. Will sang with the Marcellus Chorale and the Syracuse Oratorio.

He was predeceased by his wife of 47 years Mary and their daughter Elaine Darling.

Surviving are four daughters Robin (Dave) Chalifoux of Baldwinsville, Elizabeth Hoyt of Arvada, CO, Suzanne (Rocco) Naples of Onondaga Hill and Lynn Swee of Katonah; son-in-law David Darling of Marcellus; his brother Don Hoyt of Chittenango; 6 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter.

Calling hours will be from 4 to 6pm, with the funeral service to follow, both held Friday, March 1 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. Burial will be in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marcellus Free Library, 32 Maple Street, Marcellus, NY 13108.
