Obituary of James E. Horsington

Beloved brother, uncle, and cousin, James Edward Horsington, 60, died Friday, March 3rd at his residence in North Syracuse. Born and raised in Marcellus, NY, Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, Louise and Arthur Horsington, who welcomed him to heaven as he flew into their arms. For over 50 years Jimmy was a kind, lively, charming, and independent-minded participant at Arc of Onondaga's Community Residence and Day Habilitation Programs. He made and inspired hundreds of friends there and will be very missed by the wonderful people he worked with, especially those who knew him so well at his group home, the place that became his beloved second home. Jimmy grew up in the country and forever loved the warmth of sunshine, along with the steady beat of rock and roll music from his favorite radio. He is survived and will be greatly missed by his brothers Joseph, John (Mary Beth), Paul (Tina), and William (Patricia) Horsington, and his sister Mary (Gary Salibrici); his nieces Cara and Jessa Salibrici, Megan Pareja, Molly, Kathleen, and Emily Horsington; his nephews Nicolas Salibrici and Scott Horsington; several grand nieces and nephews and many cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am Monday, March 6, 2017 in St. Francis Xavier Church, One West Main Street, Marcellus and the Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Donations may be made to Arc of Onondaga, 600 S. Wilbur Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.
