Obituary of Robert D. "Bob" Beamish
Robert D. "Bob" Beamish, 88, of Marcellus passed away Monday, February 2, 2026 at the Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY. He was born in Dunkirk, NY on October 24, 1937 to the late Lyle and Anna Miller Beamish. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Elaine (2016) and sister Bonnie (1938).
Bob graduated from Erie County Tech in 1957 and went on to work at Niagara Mohawk until his retirement in 2000. Never one to be idle, he drove cars for several local dealerships, delivering cars up and down the east coast, from Maine to North Carolina. Bob got his start in firefighting as a member of the Fredonia Fire Department, before continuing with the Marcellus Fire Department. He was a member of VFPASNY (Past President), FASNY, CNY Firefighters Association, Susquehanna Co PA Fire Police, Pennsylvania Fire Police Association and the Connecticut Fire Police Association. All his years of work, travel and fire-related experiences helped to create the great stories he loved to share with everyone.
Bob is survived by his children Terry (John) Douglass of Boiling Springs, SC, Kathleen (Rich) Jenkins of Marcellus and James (Teresa) Beamish of Melrose, NY; six grandchildren, Sarah Waldby, Richelle Jenkins, Kyle Jenkins, Rachel (Ryan) Luna, Gabriella (William) Goliger, Colleen Beamish and a great-granddaughter.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 pm on Monday, February 9, 2026, and a service will be held Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 11 am, both at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E Main St, Marcellus, NY. Burial will follow the service at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. Contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to MAVES, PO Box 203, Marcellus, NY 13108.
