Obituary of John Norman Shaver

It is with great sorrow that the family of John Norman Shaver announce his passing on January 7, 2026 at Upstate University Hospital.

Norm was born on June 6, 1933 to Margaret (Delano) Shaver and James Louis (Fritz) Shaver in Mottville, NY.  He married the love of his life, Marjorie Ann (Droppa) Shaver on April 24, 1954. They have 2 children, son John David Shaver Sr. & spouse Kristi (Bartello) Shaver of Apulia Station NY , daughter Ann Michele (Shaver) Howe and her fiancée Robert Landry Sr. of Cape Coral, FL and Skaneateles NY. Besides his wife & children, Norm is survived by 2 grandsons, Richard John Shaver of Apulia Station NY and John David Shaver Jr. of Denver CO. Norm is also survived by several nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law and their spouses, cousins, neighbors and friends.

Besides his parents, Norm is predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

Norm was employed by Welch-Allyn, Inc. in their Research & Development & Engineering Department. He we was instrumental in developing diagnostic medical instruments and fiberoptic high intensity lamps.
Norm & Marge lived most of their lives on Bishop Hill Road in Marcellus in a home that Norm built. They enjoyed traveling to the western states and to the outer banks of NC. They also enjoyed spending spring, summer and fall at their cottage on 3 Mile Bay Lake Ontario.

Norm was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the beauty of our earth. Above all else, Norm loved his Lord & Savior Jesus Christ. He loved sharing his faith and the plan of salvation with others.

Family and friends are invited to attend services to be held on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 Main Street, Marcellus NY.  A calling hour is from 1 to 2pm, followed by a service at 2 pm. Internment will be in the spring.
