Obituary of Anthony F. Scalese

Anthony Francis Scalese, 75, formerly of Brewster, MA, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 6 surrounded by love, with his wife of nearly 55 years, Jeannette, and his daughter Sarah by his side, after a long and hard-fought battle with Alzheimer's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

Anthony, known to many as Tony, leaves behind his devoted wife, Jeannette; his son, Jason Scalese (wife Tamra), and their children, Molly and Henry; and his daughter, Sarah (husband Justin Gravius), and granddaughter Ellie, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Anthony was born on February 3, 1950, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Fred and Louise Scalese and grew up in Watertown, just outside of Boston. He attended Boston College High School and went on to earn his degree from Northeastern University. In 1970, he met the love of his life, and they were married on April 17, 1971. Together, they built a beautiful life – raising two children, traveling, laughing, and sharing all of life's most meaningful moments and milestones.

Professionally, Anthony spent 40 years in the car business, where he was respected and trusted by colleagues and customers alike. His integrity, warmth, and genuine care for others defined his work and his life.

Anthony was deeply committed to serving his community. He served as President of the Plymouth Lions Club, was a member of the Sandwich School Committee, and later served as the Brewster delegate on the Barnstable County Assembly of Delegates – all roles he embraced with pride and dedication.

Above all else, Anthony cherished his family. He loved being a husband and was the very best father a kid could ask for. He loved unconditionally, was fiercely loyal, and was known as the kindest, most selfless, and generous friend and family member. He was a lifelong Patriots and Red Sox fan, loved spending long summer days on Breakwater Beach in Brewster, Mass., and never missed an opportunity to brag about his children. He loved a great meal and a good time, was always the first one on the dance floor, and genuinely eager to help anyone in need.

There are no words to fully express how deeply he will be missed. While Alzheimer's may have taken his memory, it will never erase the profound mark he left on his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know and love him.

The family will hold calling hours from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, January 10 at Ryan Funeral Home in Marcellus, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Iroquois Nursing Home in Jamesville, NY – where he spent his final years being cared for by compassionate and kind medical and care staff.
