Charles E. Sanborn Obituary

Charles E. Sanborn, 87, of Westvale, passed away peacefully with family and clergy by his side.


Charlie grew up on Nantucket Island before moving to Syracuse. He was a US Navy Veteran. Charlie was a decorated career firefighter for the City of Syracuse Fire Department, retiring as Captain after 30 years of service. He volunteered many years for the Marcellus Historical Society. Charlie enjoyed spending time at camp with family and friends.


Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years Patricia; children Charles "Chuck" (Nancy), Robert "Bob" (Melody), Roberta (Mike) Kianka and Richard "Rick" (Jacqueline); his sister Pauline Serrao; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.


Calling hours will be from 3pm-6pm Friday, November 14, 2025 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am the next morning Saturday, November 15th in St. Charles Church, 501 South Orchard Road, Syracuse. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.


In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marcellus Historical Society, PO Box 165, Marcellus, NY 13108.
