Obituary of Francis J. Linsky
Francis John Linsky, 88, of Syracuse, New York, passed away unexpectedly on July 1, 2025.
Francis lived his whole life on Onondaga Hill. He married his wife, Marlene, in 1962, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years and raised three children. Francis retired in 1997 after a 41-year career at New York Telephone Company, making sure to live his retirement days to the fullest. Fran spent many years as a referee for area high school basketball games. Many days were spent navigating his boats on the Finger Lakes and Lake Ontario, with countless journeys in between, always with his first mate Marlene and close friends by his side.
Francis never hesitated to get behind the wheel and take a road trip, no matter the distance. Hours of driving wouldn't deter him if it meant spending time visiting family or long-time friends. Francis and Marlene also made annual trips to Aruba, their cherished home away from home, where they spent meaningful time with the Rohe's, their close friends and neighbors, and other friends who became like family.
Francis was a humble and devoted man who loved fiercely. He showed this devotion through acts of service to his family, his church, his community, and his country. He proudly served in the US Army. We will all remember Francis with a smile and a memory of someone who had a wonderful sense of humor, loyalty, and zest for life.
Francis is survived by his beloved wife Marlene Linsky; his children David Linsky, Cheryl DeGuilio, and Karen Ballard; his brother Michael Linsky (Patricia Taverna) and his treasured grandchildren Joseph DeGuilio, Benjamin Ballard and Meghan Ballard. He was predeceased by his parents Lillian (Murphy) and Francis Linsky, and his sister Patricia Swete.
His family will miss him dearly, but they are very fortunate to hold on to a lifetime of beautiful memories and his never-ending love.
