Obituary of Elbert J. White
Elbert "Dutch" White made his final purchase on May 6th at 95 years old. Dutch was born at home in South Onondaga on April 22, 1930. He lived a very full life, retiring from Saunder's Concrete after 32 years. Dutch referred to himself as a mixer technician but we have no concrete evidence of that. He traveled between winters in Florida and summers at his camp on Black Lake. Dutch enjoyed buying and tinkering with his old cars, watching NASCAR, telling jokes (of all varieties) and his sarsaparillas. He is famous for his hats, t-shirts and Dutch-afying everything he owned. In his younger years, he proudly served in the US Navy.
Dutch was predeceased by his parents Elbert and Estella Mason White. He is survived by his three children, Jay (Lisa), Theresa (Mark) Fenner and Lynn (Louis) Rotunno; a brother Donald; grandchildren, Hayley, Amber, Holden, Tabitha, Brandon, Alexander and Justine, along with 10 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be Monday, May 12th from 4 to 7pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A graveside service will be held the next morning, Tuesday at 11am in South Onondaga Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
