Obituary of Irene (Gorny) Pearson
Irene Gorny Pearson, formerly of Amber, NY passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 100. She was born in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa (Plucinnik) Gorny. Her family joined the farming community of Otisco in 1938. In 1950, Irene married the man of her dreams and love of her life, Rolland (Rip) Pearson.
In 1961, the Pearson family moved to Amber, where Irene would become an active and highly regarded community member, and remain for the next 58 years. She worked for the American Dairy Association for many years, until retirement. Irene spent her final few years with her daughter in Canaan, New Hampshire.
Irene was predeceased by her husband Rolland E. Pearson; daughter Mary Anne Spencer; brothers Edwin (Elaine) Gorney, Louis (Edith) Gorney, Raymond (Nancy) Gorney and Joseph Gorney, Jr. ; her sister Rita (Charles) Horton; brother-in-law Robert Rioux, and son-in-law Raymond Fetto.
Surviving Irene are her daughter Susan Pearson; grandchildren Ned Spencer, A. Alex Fetto and Lara Fetto; her sister Delores Rioux; sister-in-law Patricia McMahan; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Sunday, May 4, 2025 from 4 to 6pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated the next morning, Monday, May 5 at 10am in Church of the Nativity at St. Patrick's in Otisco. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetery also in Otisco.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Church of the Nativity at St. Patrick's or the Amber Fire Department.
