Obituary of Claudia G. Borman
Claudia G. Borman, 71, a longtime resident of Marietta, NY, passed away peacefully at home on March 5, 2025. Claudia was born in Elgin, Illinois to Vivian (Winkates) Borman and Arthur C. Borman, Jr. Claudia excelled as a student at Palatine High School in Illinois, as a National Merit finalist, editor of the award-winning school newspaper (the Cutlass), and top singles player on Palatine's first women's tennis team. Claudia received her B.S. in Chemistry from Tulane University and a Ph.D. in Chemistry from Harvard University. Her Ph.D. dissertation involved analysis of methods for chemical vapor deposition, and she applied her expertise in working for multiple companies in Central New York in relation to the fabrication of solid state cameras and custom integrated circuits. Claudia was an avid tennis player, having played on the team at Tulane, and a dedicated and loving mother. She enjoyed reading and loved spending time with her extended family, especially her three grandchildren whom she adored.
Claudia will be missed dearly by her son Jeffrey and his wife, Alissa; her daughter Amelia and her husband, Patrick; her siblings Matthew Borman and his wife, Laurie Oberembt, David Borman and his wife, Catherine, and Catherine Borman; her grandchildren Jack, Charlotte, and Delilah; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Claudia was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents Arthur C. and Dorothy (Mooney) Borman and Joseph and Julia (Czaja) Winkates.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 29 from 1 to 3pm, with services to follow, both held at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus.
