Obituary of Clif Richmond

Gilbert Clifton Richmond, age 70, of Marietta, NY, passed away peacefully on the morning of Wednesday, February 12th, at Upstate University Hospital, following a brief illness, with his loving wife and daughters at his bedside.

Born in Wallingford, CT, Clif moved with his family to Skaneateles, NY during his youth. He graduated from Skaneateles High School and attended Post College in Connecticut. For many years, Clif has been a valued member of Song Mountain Resort in Tully where he most recently served as Assistant Manager of Mountain Maintenance/Main Groomer. Prior to Song, he was co-owner and business partner of Creative Environmental Landscaping.

Clif was a true outdoorsman. He was a well-respected and responsible hunter, enjoyed fishing, and reveled in any time spent on the water. He was also a passionate fan of auto and boat racing and a proud alum of Morris' Grill in Skaneateles. But of course his greatest joy and source of relaxation came from the countless hours he spent tending to his yard and garden at home, most often while riding his beloved John Deere tractor. Clif was a wonderful man with a kind and generous spirit and special sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Clif is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cindy (Sadlocha) Richmond, most beloved daughters Jennifer (Timothy) Reedy of Syracuse, and Julia (Benjamin) Thorne of Baltimore, MD, devoted fur babies, Roscoe and Miss Mango, sister Ann (Michael) Zavy of El Reno, OK, brother (in-law) Daniel Hullihen of Weedsport, NY, and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur Gilbert and Barbara C. Richmond, and sister, Carolyn Hullihen.

The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to the compassionate ICU nurses, doctors, and staff at both Upstate Community Hospital and Upstate University Hospital for their exceptional care and emotional support during Clif's final days.

Calling hours will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 1-3pm, with a brief service to follow, both held at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. There will be a celebration of a life well lived held at a later date, TBA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Clif's memory to Helping Hounds Dog Rescue, 7268 Caswell St, N Syracuse, NY 13212.
