Obituary of Betty M. Hunt

Betty M. Hunt passed away peacefully on January 24, 2025 at the age of 97.

Betty was born in Syracuse, New York, moved to Morristown, New Jersey in 1962, and returned to Central New York in 1983, where she settled in Marcellus.

Betty was known for her selflessness, smile, positive attitude, faith, and love of her family. One of Betty's biggest joys was music. After graduating from Crouse College of Music at Syracuse University, she taught piano for many years. Betty also sang with the New Jersey Masterwork Chorus, performing several times at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as with the Syracuse Oratorio Society.

Betty is survived by her children, David Peebles (Sheila Lemke), Andrew Peebles (Genelle), and Susan McLaughlin (David); six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous step children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her husband, Homer "Butch" Hunt.

The family would like to thank the staff at Iroquois Nursing Home for their excellent and compassionate care of Betty.

There will be no calling hours or public services. A private burial will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty's name can be made to St. James' Episcopal Church, 96 E. Genesee Street, Skaneateles, New York 13152.
