Obituary of E. Margaret Hourigan

E. Margaret Taylor Hourigan, 89, of Navarino passed away peacefully at St. Camillus with family by her side. Margaret was born September 19, 1926 to the late John and Anna (Lennon) Taylor in Marcellus, NY. She was a lifelong resident of Navarino. Margaret was the widow of Gerald Hourigan who died in 1990. Together with their four sons they owned and operated a dairy farm in Navarino. Margaret was fond of telling tales of cooking meals for the "Hired Hands" and all their day to day adventures. Besides her husband, Margaret was predeceased by three brothers John, Francis and Richard Taylor, and two sisters Mary (Harold) Masters and Helen (Paul) Ramsden. Surviving are four sons John (Nancy) Hourigan of Elbridge, Gerald (Patricia) Hourigan, Michael (Christine) Hourigan and Patrick (Terry) Hourigan all of Navarino; 19 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law Lucy Taylor, Susan Taylor and Rita Costello; many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm Wednesday, August 17 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Thursday in St. Francis Xavier Church, One West Main Street, Marcellus. The Rite of Committal and burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus. The family would like to sincerely thank the caring staff of unit C at St. Camillus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Navarino Fire Department, 3276 Amber Road, Syracuse, NY 13215.
