Obituary of James A. Spencer

James A. Spencer, 88, of Camillus, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 15, 2016, at home. Finishing high school, Jim joined the US Army, working in the chemical field. After discharge he graduated from Syracuse University, later doing graduate work at Cornell University. His major occupation was the safety field and he spent 30 years with various assignments and experiences. His major avocation was nature, banding hawks and presenting a hawk slide program, as well as wild flower programs. Jim was a walker of streams and forests in all seasons, obtaining intense pleasure from the close and intimate exposure to nature. Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carol; one son Jack; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be 4 to 6pm Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. Services and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Adirondack Explorer, 36 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY 12983.
