Obituary of Richard K. Rajkowski

Richard K. Rajkowski, 87, of Marcellus, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 3, 2016. Dick was born in Syracuse, NY and was a 1947 graduate of Blodgett Vocational High School. He was a US Army Veteran who served in the Korean War. In 1958, Dick moved with his family to Marcellus. For many years he operated his own business "Calico Kitchens" in Camillus. In 1968, he joined Richard Hoyt, Inc. as an estimator and later became vice president of the company. Dick was a member of the Marcellus Booster Club and volunteered at many events. He was a communicant of St. Mary's of the Lake Church, Skaneateles and for many previous years St. Francis Xavier Church, Marcellus. Dick enjoyed furniture making, cabinetry, painting pictures, sketching and water colors. Dick was predeceased by his parents Mary and Brunell Rajkowski, his son Peter James Rajkowski and his siblings Charlotte Mazzaroppi, Virginia Casler and Eugene Rajkowski. Surviving are his wife Isabelle; children Kathleen (Gary) Steward of Hamilton, NY, Richard (Michele) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Jean Marie (Kevin) Huss of Marcellus, Michael (Colleen) of Marcellus, Daniel of Charlotte, NC, Ann (Jeff) Seabury of Manlius, NY and James of Cazenovia, NY; 16 grandchildren Matthew (Sydelle) Steward, Elisabeth, Andrew and Nathan Steward, Chance and Jenna Rajkowski, Mary, Nicholas and Kevin Huss, Anne Marie Rajkowski, Jonathan (Samantha) Hildreth, Alexandra, Jamison and Mitchell Seabury, Grace and Katie Rajkowski. He is also survived by his two sisters Delores Raymond and Alice O'Connell and many nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be from 4 to 7pm Monday, March 7, 2016 at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10am Tuesday, March 8 in St. Mary's of the Lake Church, 81 Jordan St., Skaneateles, NY. Burial will be at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Upstate Golisano Children's Hospital, or to MAVES, or the Marcellus Fire Department.
