Obituary of Leo F. Kilcoyne

Leo F. Kilcoyne, 99, of Camillus and formerly of Navarino, died Thursday, June 4, 2015, at Iroquois Nursing Home, after a brief illness, with family by his side. Born and raised in Marcellus, Leo graduated from Marcellus High School in 1934 where he was a member of the football, basketball and golf teams, as well as the drama club. He was a World War II Army Veteran serving as a Corporal in the 157th Engineer Combat Battalion in Europe. In 1946 Leo married Muriel Curtis, and lived in Navarino for most of his life, before moving to Camillus in 2006. He was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church, South Onondaga, for over 50 years, and recently of St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. Leo worked for A&P in the warehouse for 24 years and retired from Super Foods in 1980. He enjoyed golf and bowling, and was a long time member of the Marcellus Bowling League and Tanner Valley Golf Club. Leo was a charter member of the Marcellus Golf League and served as its first secretary. He played golf until he was 94 years old. Surviving Leo are his wife of 68 years the former Muriel Curtis; children James (Colleen) Kilcoyne, Carol (Bruce) Parker and Susan Kilcoyne (Duane Coughenour) all of Camillus; six grandchildren Lisa (Michael) Brosnan, Michael (Christen) Parker, Robert Kilcoyne, Julie Kilcoyne, Holly (Michael) Schadt and Christopher Burbank; four great-grandchildren Michael and Ryan Brosnan, Gia Racciatti and Brody Schadt; several nieces and nephews; cousin Mary E. Orsezek. Calling hours will be 4 to 7pm Monday, June 8th at Ryan Funeral Home, 44 E. Main Street, Marcellus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30am Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church, Camillus. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Marcellus.
